EAE ranks as the second most reputable business school in Spain in the 2017 Merco Ranking

EAE holds on to the same position for the fourth consecutive year and has ranked among the top five business schools in Spain since 2007. The School classified in 54th place in the general company ranking, in a league table headed by Inditex, Mercadona and Santander

For the fourth year in a row, EAE Business School has been named as the second best business school in the 2017 Merco Ranking.  The sector league table was headed by IE, while EAE has held the same position as it was ranked in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Moreover, this year, EAE has ranked in 54th place in the general company ranking, in a league table in which the top ten positions were held by Inditex, Mercadona, Santander, Repsol, BBVA, Telefónica, Caixabank, Mapfre, Iberdrola and ONCE.

Every year, the Merco Ranking analyses the corporate reputation of the top 100 companies in Spain and EAE has ranked among the Top Five since 2007 in the Business School category. Each year, applications are submitted from over 700 companies but only 100 are picked to enter the general ranking, with EAE having been on the list for eleven years in a row. The list is drafted with the participation of more than board members from all of the companies operating in Spain with a turnover of over 50 million euros, as well as experts in Corporate Social Responsibility.

The ranking takes the analysis of six variables into consideration: financial profitability, service quality and customer satisfaction, innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility and environmental policies, internal reputation and employment quality, and international dimension. It takes into account the Independent Review Report (ISA E3000) conducted by KPMG and is the world’s leading verified monitor of corporate reputation. In addition, all of Merco’s methodology and weighting criteria are publicly available.

The drafting process of the Merco ranking uses a multi-stakeholder approach. In 2017, this has involved the participation of 1,201 executives who complete an initial questionnaire about corporate reputation Afterwards, 930 experts evaluate the companies: 111 financial analysts, 120 NGO representatives who assess the companies’ commitment to the community and environmental and social responsibility, 41 union members who rate the quality of employment, 130 members of consumer associations who evaluate value for money, 100 economic journalists who assess the companies’ information transparency and accessibility, 100 business professors rate the quality of business management and innovation, 104 members of Dircom and opinion leaders evaluate leadership. Also in 2017, 154 Influencers and Social Media Managers participated in the evaluation and, as a new development this year, 70 political directors assessed the companies’ behaviour and commitment to the country. Furthermore, 18,458 employees, 826 university students, 748 former business school students, 928 members of the general public and 58 headhunting experts evaluated the internal reputation of each of the companies.

EAE Business School has been ranked as the second most responsible business school and with the best corporate governance in Spain in the Merco 2016 Ranking of Responsibility and Corporate Governance. In addition, this year, EAE holds 53rd place in the general classification of companies, in a ranking headed by the following companies in the top ten: ONCE and its Foundation, Mercadona, Caixabank, Inditex, Mapfre, Iberdrola, BBVA, Repsol, Danone and Calidad Pascual.

This ranking complements the results published in June last year, which announced the first part of the Merco Companies Ranking, in which was named as the second most reputable business school in Spain for the third year in a row.

To pick the most responsible companies this year, Merco has taken into consideration the opinions of experts from up to 10 different fields, including the following samples: 1,231 board members from large companies, 86 CSR experts, 159 members of NGOs, 111 trade union members, 106 members of consumer associations, 101 economic journalists, 164 financial analysts, 152 influencers and Social Media Managers and more than 1,985 members of the public, as well as the evaluation of Analysis and Research Technicians who have assessed the reputational merits of the companies in the ranking. In this way, the objective is to give a more comprehensive overview to the crucially important concept of responsibility.

The Training sector classification was led by IESE, and EAE retains the position it held in the 2014 and 2015 editions. EAE also comes in 45th on the general classification of companies, a ranking led by Inditex, Mercadona and Santander.

Merco has analysed the corporate reputation of the 100 largest companies in Spain since 2007, focusing on a total of more than 700 companies that participate in the ranking each year. EAE has ranked in this Top 100 and is also among the Top Five Business Schools for the tenth year running.

Ranking El Mundo con EAE Business School

Six Masters run by EAE Business School have been ranked among the best in Spain this year in the ranking prepared by the newspaper El Mundo, matching the levels of recognition obtained in 2016. For the sixth year in a row, the Master in Corporate Communication Management is ranked as the best master run in Spain in the field of Communications.

The programs run by EAE Business School also classify among the best in the areas of Logistics, Marketing, Human Resources, Commercial Management and Finances. The last of these has even climbed in the ranking to be named as the second best Master in the field of Finance in Spain. As such, a total of six masters have been named in this league table of postgraduate tuition drafted by the newspaper El Mundo 2017. This figure matches the total achieved in the previous year, with the School therefore maintaining the level of acknowledgement received.

The ranking names the 250 best masters chosen from a selection of over a thousand options. The decisions are based on 25 criteria divided into five areas: demand for the master, human resources, study programme, results and material resources. Moreover, the assessors have the help and opinions of 800 experts, lecturers, students, graduates of the programmes themselves and partner companies.

TOP RANKING PROGRAMS:

The Master in Corporate Communication Management is named as the best Communications Master run in Spain, ahead of the programs offered by the Universidad de Navarra and Cesma. Having ranked among the top programs for more than a decade, this is the sixth year in a row that it holds the top spot, reaffirming its leadership in the sector.

The Master in Financial Management has been ranked this year for the first time in its history as the second best Master in Spain in the field of Finance. El Mundo highlights the opportunity that EAE gives its students to take part in an International Residential Program at the University of Quebec (Canada) at the end of the tuition period, and the fact that 91% of graduates find employment within six months. The Master in Marketing Management has been named as the second best Master in the field of Marketing in Spain. The ranking highlights the program’s Advisory Board, comprised of executives from companies such as Unilever, Mango, Heineken, Nielsen, BP and Sony, among others; and the creation of a Marketing Plan. The Master in Operations and Logistics Management is classified as the best Master in the field of Logistics run in Madrid and Barcelona, and the second best in Spain. Among other key factors, the ranking emphasizes the fact that the program is designed to enable students to pass the examination for the SCMPro Level 1 certification of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. The Master in Commercial and Sales Management reaffirms its status as the best program run in Barcelona and the second best in Spain, with its highlights including the international placements offered in the United States and Europe, thanks to agreements in place with institutions in more than 30 countries, as well as the creation of a Commercial Action Plan.
