On 1st December, the Events Hall of EAE’s Madrid Campus hosted the presentation of the Spain & Portugal Graduate Programme 2014-2015 organized by the Director of Human Resources at BP Spain, Juan Manuel Delgado. Together with Miriam Gozalo, one of the programme’s current participants, they gave us an overview of the characteristics of the scheme.
The programme is designed to recruit young talented professionals and enable them to enhance their professional development with a view to becoming the future leaders of BP in Spain and Portugal.
According to Juan Manuel Delgado, “the main requirements for young professionals entering this company include having the potential and motivation to develop a career in BP Spain and Portugal, as well as having at least two years’ professional experience and an advanced level of English and Spanish”.
In addition, Miriam Gozalo, who is currently participating on the programme in the company, went into greater detail about her experience in BP in the following interview:
WHAT IS YOUR PROFILE AND WHICH DEPARTMENT OF BP DO YOU WORK IN?
I am an Advanced Telecommunications Engineer with an MBA and a Bachelor Degree in Music, specializing in the viola. I consider myself to be an enterprising, non-conformist person who thrives on a challenge, with a desire to change the part of the world that I dedicate my time to. My experience at BP started in the first rotation as a Pricing and Optimization Analyst, and in the second rotation I went on to become the Retail Territory Manager.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR JOINING THE GRADUATE PROGRAMME?
It generally involves telephone and personal interviews with the HR Department and Senior Management, as well as an external assessment.
WHAT ARE THE CONTRACTING POSSIBILITIES ON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAMME?
The visibility, responsibility and, above all, the networking that the programme enables you to achieve almost guarantees continuity of employment at the end of the programme.
¿QUÉ ES LO QUE MÁS TE GUSTA DE TRABAJAR EN BP?
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WORKING IN BP?
The daily challenges that I face in my work and the opportunity to work with a team that I can really learn from and continue to grow every day.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAVE BEEN THE HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR EXPERIENCE ON THE GRADUATE PROGRAMME?
I would highlight the responsibility that they give you right from day one, as well as the visibility that you gain in terms of the group.
WOULD YOU ENCOURAGE OUR STUDENTS TO TAKE PART?
As I mentioned in the presentation, it is a hard programme but it offers great rewards that you can reap gradually along the way. At a professional level, participants can certainly learn and benefit greatly from this experience.
After the presentation, the students that attended the session in person had the chance to ask any questions they had to Juan Manuel and Miriam in relation to the programme and working in BP Oil Spain.
Once again, EAE keeps working to ensure a better professional future for its students.
