April 14th, 2021, the day in which the most special EAE Talent took place. Talent and Opportunity each woke up in their own house, feeling a bit nervous, both for different reasons. Talent was nervous about having to face the chance of establishing a new professional connection and Opportunity about meeting a new colleague and sharing all the knowledge and experience with all the attendants.
Opportunity and Talent shook hands and entered the most important networking event of the year and one of the most outstanding job fairs in Spain. Connect to Transform was the password to get inside this greenhouse for talent, this space for opportunities.
EAE Talent 2021 was executed to perfection, adapting to the current circumstances, by making use of a hybrid format that combined online and on-site activities, both in Madrid and Barcelona. It was a great success regarding participation and it all started at the digital lobby that you see in the image above — where Talent and Opportunity met each other. These are some of the possibilities that the event had to offer:
“You’re the Product. What Makes You Different?”
The first Career Talk to which Opportunity and Talent attended was centred around the positions and sectors in highest demand for 2021. Belén Marrón —professor at EAE and Business Partner at Athenea Healthcare Group— was the moderator and the speakers were Ricardo Alfaro —Deputy Director at ASEPEYO— and Albert Cañigueral —Spanish & Latin American Connector at OuiShare—.
Albert —who is the author of “El trabajo ya no es lo que era”— made it clear from the start: “Project based work is here to stay”. He commented that the current work setting is similar to navigating a wild river — it’s better to do it with someone by your side than going at it alone in your canoe. He recommends always having a travel comapñion, so that you can look out for each other: “It doesn’t have to be a solo adventure”.
Ricardo agrees and he adds that, for him, nowadays, the world is collaboration. He thinks that the ideal profile must know how to listen, to adapt and not be a specialist — on the contrary, a great generalist. He advised attendants to guide their professional careers as if it was a marketing career: “You’re the product. What makes you different?”. He also talked about Change Management. He deems it crucial for companies to have someone in charge of culture management — someone watching over the company’s DNA, making sure it’s not left hanging in the past and that it evolves little by little.
“It’s possible to learn, undertake your own projects and grow. Do it.”
One of the other conferences in which Talent and Opportunity met was a session on entrepreneurship, start-ups and trends for the coming years that was carried out by Anindya Saha — Director of EAE Investor and Founder of Nero Ventures.
Helena Torres —Independent Board Director, Entrepreneur, BlueTech VC— started her talk making it clear that people can reinvent themselves at any age, at any moment of their life. “The future is a very long journey and you don’t have to choose it as soon as you finish your studies”, she said. As for Maribel Berges —Affirma Biotech’s CEO—, she pointed out that the road is created by informing oneself, reading a lot and keeping up with the times.
“It’s possible to learn, undertake your own projects and grow. Do it”. The third and last speaker was Henri Mennens — Business Creation and Development Director at EAE Entrepreneur. For him, one of the keys in business models is the collaboration with several ecosystems. He commented on the idea that you can become an entrepreneur and carry out your projects on your own. But, he also pointed out that you can do the same thing inside the company — something known as intra-entrepreneurship. He also stressed the importance of listening to yourself and following your heart.
These are only some of the statements made during EAE Talent 2021. During the coming week, Start Today we’ll collect two other sessions that sparked the interest of the attendants: “Sustainability and SDG of the Work of the Future” and “Meet the Headhunter 1: Upskilling & Reskilling”.
Opportunity and Talent didn’t just meet and learn together — on numerous occasions, they gave birth to a professional relationship in which many EAE Business School students are now immersed. One more year in which —overcoming every obstacle— EAE Talent 2021 has managed to fulfill its goal: Connect to Transform.
