The Master in Economic Analysis of Law gives you an in-depth insight into the world of law from a different perspective to the traditional analysis applied by legal professionals. This methodology applies economic reasoning to analyse laws and other regulatory systems, such as contracts, case law and any other kinds of social regulation related to business. The main objective of the Master in Economic Analysis of Law is to enhance efficiency in the legal systems and other social organization mechanisms, such as public institutions and policy, with the aim of equipping students to operate as experts in legal consultancy.

From the perspective of the Economic Analysis of Law, laws and public policies are seen as a source of incentives, focusing on their legal, economic and social consequences. This approach constitutes the most significant innovation in the field of law in the last few decades and is becoming increasingly influential in the Law Schools of the world’s top universities. The law of the 21st Century faces the enormous challenge of embracing the tools provided by social sciences with the aim of boosting professional development in a world that constantly requires a multidisciplinary profile.

Therefore, the Master in Economic Analysis of Law provides a unique opportunity to take official interdisciplinary postgraduate studies that reinforce the participants’ legal knowledge by interacting with Economics and other social sciences, enabling them to offer effective legal and economic advice.

Residential program at Harvard Law School (HLS): Course in Law and Economics

The students on the Master in Economic Analysis of Law have the option of doing an intensive course on the Economic Analysis of Law run annually by Harvard Law School, sponsored by the Fundación Rafael del Pino. The course is run in October and only students who have completed the tuition period of the Master are eligible to take part. Admission to the course depends on an evaluation of the students’ CV and academic record, as well as their academic and professional experience related to the field of study. Completion of the course is accredited with a certificate issued by HLS.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT MODULE

The Master includes a module on Business Management that gives the students the option to choose from 34 minors to expand their knowledge of key areas of management (Finance, Accounting, Project Management, Human Resources, Communication, Marketing, Supply Chain, International Business and Design Thinking, among others).

The faculty is composed of professors from national and international universities, as well as senior executives from the world of public administration and highly respected legal professionals.

OFFICIAL MASTER

This is an official Master regulated by ANECA (National Agency of Quality Evaluation and Accreditation), which reports to the Ministry of Education, and it is recognized in the 47 countries that make up the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
