Merco Ranking

What is MERCO?

The Monitor Empresarial de Reputación Corporativa (MERCO – Corporate Reputation Monitor) analyses the corporate reputation of companies operating in Spain. It is a leading monitor on an international scale. Every year, over 700 companies apply, with only 100 of them reaching the general classification, in which EAE has been included for the eighth year running.

The MERCO ranking takes the analysis of six key areas of each company into consideration: financial profitability, service quality and customer satisfaction, innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility and environmental policies, internal reputation and employment quality, and international dimension.

The drafting process of the MERCO ranking uses a multi-stakeholder approach which involves the participation of 15,000 executives who complete an initial questionnaire about corporate reputation. Afterwards, 658 experts evaluate the different areas: 152 financial analysts, 112 NGO representatives, 100 union members, 100 members of consumer associations, 84 economic journalists, 61 members of the Association of Communications Directors and 50 CSR experts.

After this evaluation, 70 technicians from the research and analysis company Análisis e Investigación assess the top 70 companies of the ranking, using a direct evaluation. The results also include the evaluation of 3,087 members of the public, 8,856 employees and 101 Human Resources Directors.

Since 2013, MERCO has taken into account the Independent Review Report (ISA E3000) conducted by KPMG and is now the world’s leading verified monitor of corporate reputation. In addition, all of Merco’s methodology and weighting criteria are publicly available.

The 1000 best world Business Schools

The results of the 2016 Deans' Vote Survey were officially announced during the 9th Eduniversal World Conference in Perth (Australia). The votes of each Dean converted into a recommendation rate (‰) allow students and other players in the academic sphere to evaluate and compare the different academic institutions selected by Eduniversal. The integrality of the 2016 ranking of the 1,000 best Business Schools in the world and its complete methodology can be found here

A ranking outside the norms: Methodology

The 1,000 institutions of the Eduniversal Official Selection are chosen by the International Scientific Committee composed of nine independent academic experts * recognised in their geographical area, after long and meticulous evaluation. The objective is to establish a global map that considers the influence and international reputation of each selected institution. Therefore, the EES (Eduniversal Evaluation System) collects and analyses the data of hundreds of systems of global, national and regional evaluation in higher education, considering both the accreditations, the results of other rankings as well as the assessment of distinctions achieved in the country of the institution.

For the classification of the 1,000 Business Schools, the EES distinguishes between the thousands of institutions audited in the 154 countries that make up the ranking. The number of institutions per country is defined by a quota method that considers quantitative and qualitative criteria (macroeconomic, historical and cultural data). EDUNIVERSAL then classifies the institutions according to their international reputation at national level as well as worldwide and by region. After their selection, the institutions are organised into five leagues called "Palms of Excellence". The level of "Palm of Excellence" (from 1 to 5) is determined for each of the selected institutions in accordance with all the internationalisation criteria defined by the International Scientific Committee. The position in the league is then established with the evaluation made by the Deans in the Deans' Vote Survey.

The Deans' Vote Survey is the sole criterion of the EES, in which the deans and directors of the 1,000 selected institutions transmit their recommendations for each of the 1,000 institutions in the 154 countries. The number of recommendations obtained then determines the classification for each of them in their league or "Palm of Excellence".
