Postgraduate studies are an ‘essential requirement’ of 6% of graduate employment offers posted in Spain, according to Infoempleo. The higher the level of qualification, the greater the salary. In such a competitive employment market, having a university degree is not enough to find world. The solution is to stand out from the rest and have a command of various languages. The hen that lays the golden eggs is the MBA, which can double a professional’s salary.

They are the generation of the moment, with the greatest virtues and the biggest flaws. If we believe everything we read, we would come to the conclusion that they are spoiled and well-equipped, committed and narcissistic, optimistic and uninterested in politics. Varying from study to study, these contradictory characteristics are cited to classify a generation which, despite the name ‘millennials’ being repeated in abundance, does not have any clearly defined limits in terms of time (the general consensus is that they are born between the early 1980s and mid 1990s). However, two messages are constantly repeated about the generation, the first of which is obvious and easily observable (they are familiar with technology from early childhood). The second, however, is harder to demonstrate, yet popularly cited by columnists and opinion-makers: they are unmotivated and lazy.

Design thinking and entrepreneurship are inextricably linked in students today. Education institutions already offer an integrated thinking approach, with an emphasis on corporate social responsibility. The target is to create professionals with a genetic makeup that enables them to recreate and reimagine things, who know how to respond quickly to the needs of companies and customers. The role of the student is changing radically, shifting from ‘Can I do it?’ to ‘I can do it!’. Design thinking gives us a new way to analyse entrepreneurship and provides guidelines that help to neutralize the initial uncertainties faced when starting to develop an innovative idea.

A book is currently being presented publicly, one of the authors of which is the former Minister of Employment Valeriano Gómez, under the eloquent title “Will we get our pension?” Without a doubt, it is a key topic of the current legislature: balancing a system, namely Social Security, in which costs have grown and income has dwindled for many years, in such a way to ensure decent pensions. Any contribution towards achieving this objective is important and it is crucial that we do not lose sight of a key sector of the economy: older entrepreneurs.
