Ustaritz Bartolomé, the Hubs Operations Manager at Catenon, and Iulia Kalacheva, an International Recruitment Consultant and former student of EAE Business School, gave the students at EAE's Madrid Campus an insight into how this recruitment company specializing in new technologies operates and its professional needs.
"One planet, one office" is the slogan that best defines Catenon, "the first global platform of digital recruiters". The platform advocates new forms of online recruitment for executive and senior management profiles. To achieve this, the Human Resources team can interview anybody located anywhere on the planet and, based on this, create a video curriculum serves to showcase this profile in other countries.
Catenon's Personnel Selection area is organized into Hubs. "In the Madrid Hub (there are others in Barcelona and Paris), we provide services to Europe and, occasionally, Latin America", explained Ustaritz, adding that "the next step we are going to take is to interconnect the hubs". What Iulia, a student on EAE's Master in HR, likes about Catenon is that "the recruiters all help each other. We work as a team. The atmosphere gives you a great sense of calm, even when you are working at full speed with the processes".
Catenon's current staffing requirements are focused on internship positions, with or without experience. "People with attitude, who like Human Resources and have a desire to learn. People with an open mind with a drive to research" explained Ustaritz, emphasizing the importance of English as a second language, with candidates requiring a C1 level.
At Catenon, they are looking for an intern for a position in Haiti. They have a vacancy in the Marketing Department and others in Sales and HR. In all the cases, experience is not essential. "If their level of English and their performance is good, we try to find a space and incorporate them in the company, making sure that we don't miss out on talent", explained Ustaritz, the Hubs Operations Manager at the company.
Iulia recounted her experience as an intern at Catenon: "You start on an internship, providing support to the recruiter and, as time goes on, you might be given your first process with a tutor to help you. Gradually, you get more independence and autonomy". Ustaritz gave the participants and overview of the learning process on Catenon's internship program. "You start off inputting data but, if you are curious, you start enquiring and you learn a great deal. You then get specific training on conducting telephone interviews, followed by training on face-to-face interviews, accompanied by a senior colleague. Lastly, you learn about recording the interview, which is the most stressful part for the recruiter, but also for the candidate."
With respect to the way Catenon works, Ustaritz emphasized the flexibility that the company offers. "We are fairly flexible in terms of timetable and types of contract. We do not usually post the internship vacancies on the website. We contact EAE directly. We also offer the option of working remotely once you are familiar with the platform, which depends on the people involved".
To finish off, Ustaritz and Iulia explained how the Catenon.com interface works, where they post the offers and candidates can register. Catenon is based at Paseo Castellana 93, in Madrid and has offices in Barcelona and Germany. Its official timetable is from 09:00 to 18:00 and to 15:00 on Fridays.
