EAE Business School enhances academic excellence by incentivizing students to work as effectively as possible throughout the academic year. The award for effort acts as incentive for the students who, thanks to the accolade, join the ranking of the most outstanding students of the year: the Dean's List. This academic year, the top spot on the ranking was taken by José Luis López, the student given the award at the Madrid Graduation Ceremony for coming top of the Dean's List 2016-2017.
The Financial Director at Delgado & Cía, José Luis López said that he felt "a great deal of pride after a very intensive and challenging year", at the end of which he has managed to rank top of EAE Business School's Dean's List for the 2016-2017 academic year. The student of the Global Executive MBA added that he is "very grateful to the university, my classmates, the lecturers and especially my family. My wife's support has been essential".
José Luis López Suárez managed to achieve a score and weighted average above 8.5, one of the requirements to be named on the Dean's List, even though it was not one of his initial objectives when he started the Global Executive MBA at EAE. "The goal I set myself when I take on a project of this kind is to do it well. When the Dean called me to give me the good news, I felt extremely satisfied and pleased. In the end, all the pieces came together for me to achieve the objective".
José Luis López added that one of the most valuable aspects of the Master was the networking opportunities that it gave him, "not only with my classmates but also on all the residential programs that we did in New York and China, as well as with the various companies we have visited. It has been spectacular". With respect to the teaching team at EAE Business School, José Luis "thanks the lecturers on the Master for their work".
Topping the Dean's List enables him to pick a two-week residential program at a foreign university to broaden his studies. José Luis was sure about his choice. "I'm going to Boston in a couple of weeks to take an entrepreneurship program in a country that is such a leader in the field as much as the United States, so it really is an unbeatable opportunity".
In terms of projects and plans for the future, in the short term, José Luis López would like to take some time to think about things, consolidate his knowledge and experiences, as well as continuing his studies, probably with a PhD. He also emphasizes his desire to maintain his relationship with the business school because "EAE has given me a great deal and I would like to keep my links with the School in future, teaching some kind of class".
EAE's brightest student of 2017 has shared his academic excellence with EAE Business School from the very start, with the initial interviews for the Master candidates, right through to graduation day, the culmination of the course, with a spectacular ceremony. "The key is the great team that sets precedents on a day-to-day basis".
