Moments to remember at EAE Business School

EAE Business School organized and participated in a good number of events related to the business world and employability. One example is the Business Networking conferences led by executives and experts in the field, such as Santi García, the founder of the Future for Work Institute. The speaker analysed the relationship between employees' curiosity and their performance based on a report published by the platform Infojobs. Key conclusions from the conference included the fact that curiosity generates better and broader performance from employees, as well as emphasizing that professionals have to make progress, update their skills and acquire new knowledge.
Fintech and alternative financing were the focus of a conference at the Barcelona Campus chaired by Paco Isidro, a lecturer at EAE and financial consultant, with the participation of Grégoire de Lestapis, the CEO of Lendix; Asier Uribechebarria, the General Director at Finanbest; and Horacio Molina, the Vice-General Secretary of the AECA. The growth potential of fintech and the combination of finance and technology were discussed at the forum. The conference held at the Col·legi d'Economistes de Cataluña, one of EAE Business School's partner institutions, the discussion focused on digital currencies and blockchain, with the participation of Miquel Noguer, the Director of the Innovation and Technology Department of the IEF, Montserrat Guardia, the Digital Challenge Director at BancSabadell-Sabis, Carlos B. Steinblock, The Co-Founder and CEO of BTC-Guardian, and Josep Maria Boixeda, the Director of Strategy, Technology, Innovation and Information Systems at Grup Natural Fenosa, S.A.
The future of people and the robotization of warehouses were the topic of another Business Networking session led by Rubén Martínez García, the Director of Organizational Development at ASTI, and Alberto Marina, the Secretary of the CSCMP Spain. Last but not least, a number of successful events were organized in collaboration with the AME (Spanish Marketing Association), including the Store of the Future and the new Data Protection legislation. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies were the focus of an interesting presentation by Javier Rivas, the Director of EAE's Master in Financial Management at the School's Joaquín Costa Campus.
Business leadership was analysed by Javier Pijoan, the Managing Director for Iberia at Bacardi in a conference organized by EAE in collaboration with the APD. The speaker discussed the cultural transformation of the spirits manufacturer and how company has evolved by returning to its origins and the brand's differential values. Lastly, with the support of Bankia, our partner organizations held the 2nd Conference on company training and development trends, with the participation of Carlos Hernández, the Director of People Strategy and Policies at Bankia, Sergio Jiménez, the CEO of Aiwin, Pilar Jericó, the Executive President and Partner of BE-UP, Pablo Fernández, the Director of People Strategy at Bankia, Daniel Ferreiro, the L&D People Manager at Sanitas, Francisco Puertas, Accenture's Strategy, Talent & Organization Manager, and Arancha García, the Executive Career Advisor at EAE Business School, among others.
EAE lecturers and partners take part in international forums
The Director of EAE's Master in Supply Chain Management, Miquel Serracanta, took part in the Annual Conference of the CSCMP in Nashville (USA). Participating in a discussion panel entitled "Show Off Your Supply Chain Credentials with an SCPro Certification", Serracanta focused on the importance of talent and human resource management in global supply chains. In this respect, the EAE lecturer advocated professional training and lifelong learning for continuous improvement in the supply chain, describing it as even more important than technology.
The Executives around the World series was another of the events organized by EAE Business School in collaboration with APD, including a session with the participation of experts such as Enrique Sánchez de León, the General Director of APD, and Javier Díaz, the General Manager for Southern Europe and Latin America at IPSOFT. In the forum, they analysed aspects such as the advances in new technologies and the importance of using artificial intelligence at the service of mankind.
Marta Ríos, the General Director of Adidas Iberia, was the keynote speaker at an event organized by EAE Business School and APD also within the framework of the Executives around the World series. In the forum, the speaker explained her experience at the company and how she managed to grow and tackle new professional challenges. Values and leadership style were the key aspects addressed by the executive, who also discussed communication and constructive feedback.
Held in Barcelona, the Chamber Business Lunch Series organized by the Chamber of Commerce with the support of EAE in February analysed the importance of Alibaba and the growth opportunities for Spain. Ernesto Caccavale, the group's Director of Development and Business for Spain and Portugal, emphasized that the door is open for Spanish companies to sell in Asia thanks to the Chinese platform.
Motivation and leadership
The Annual Alumni Reunion held in Madrid in October was pleased to welcome Jonas Kjellberg, the Founder of Skype and keynote speaker at the event. The Swedish entrepreneur's presentation was entitled "Social and creative innovation: new business models for a new generation" and he gave the attendees an insight into the lessons he had learned from his various business experiences. In short, it was a motivational speech for the former students of EAE Business School, who Kjellberg advised to embrace honesty when innovating.
Toni Nadal also gave a 100% motivational speech as a part of a conference at EAE Business School filled with messages of self-confidence, satisfaction for a job well done and daring to change. Rafael Nadal's uncle and coach also analysed aspects such as managing failure and getting back up time and time again to gain better chances of success.
Entrepreneurship and Business Angels
Anindya Saha, the Founder and Partner at Nero Ventures, gave a conference on the Business Angels Academy program in which she shared her in-depth insight into aspects such as analysing investment options and achieving success in entrepreneurial ventures. The aspects covered in the forum included understanding the different phases of the investment process, the financing options available and having a sound knowledge of the sector before investing in a startup.
Entrepreneurship was one of the key features of the year at EAE through initiatives such as the EAE Lab incubator and the program of activities interested in setting up their own company. In an online format, the School also organized the EAE Entrepreneur Experience sessions, including a series of videos with experts in business development and investors sharing their real experiences.
