The German multinational specializing in designing computing solutions has led the latest EAE Company Meeting, held at Joaquín Costa 41. The session welcomed two representatives of the international software giant: Ana María Gómez, an Associate Consultant at SAP, and Joaquín Fernández, an SAP Technical Project Leader.
Ana María Gómez described the technology company as a "great place to work" and gave the participants an overview of the company's history since it was founded in 1972. Moreover, he explained the kind of clients they work with and the type of professional employed by the multinational. Other key figures discussed in the presentation included the fact that SAP has over 90 thousand employees all over the world, 32% of whom are women and 46% of whom are millennials. After the introduction, Ana María told the participants about the SAP Academy, a recruitment program for recent graduates who want to start building a successful career at SAP. This sales-focused initiative includes an employment contract and a placement in Silicon Valley with a mentor/coach who trains and prepares the new arrivals at the multinational.
There was a large turnout at the Events Hall at EAE's Madrid Campus, which was particularly welcomed by Ana María, who emphasized that SAP needs young talents from business schools like EAE, which go to great lengths to ensure the quality of its students' tuition. In the Associate SAP Consultant's opinion, the School's students are "really great profiles, particularly in the case of millennials, who are ideally suited to a large technology company that takes care of and supports them at all times".
Creativity, a multicultural profile, ability to learn and desire for lifelong learning are the aspects that SAP values most highly. The company needs young people with 2 to 3 years' professional experience who are familiar with the world of IT and passionate about technologies. "At SAP, you are never on your own. Your colleagues help you and you can rely on them", explained Ana María, before highlighting the company's cultural richness. "We are a global company. We work with people from all over the world and of all nationalities. Professionals also come over from other countries".
With respect to promotion prospects at the company, Ana María explained that there is horizontal and vertical mobility. "We value vertical growth within the company and we don't want our talents to leave us. Therefore, we are strongly committed to them and strive to ensure that they stay at SAP".
Joaquín Fernández Pérez, a Technical Project Leader at SAP and an expert in technology consultancy, went on to give an overview of the company's culture and its global projects. With an incubator in Silicon Valley, SAP focused on entrepreneurial profiles and has a firm commitment to the young people who join the company. "Innovation is something that happens really fast and SAP's employees are innovators, leaders and good people". In addition, in 2017, the company won a total of 34 awards for being the "best employers" all around the world.
Projects such as the one in Buenos Aires, developments on Machine Learning and the Internet of Things for part of SAP's technological culture, to which Joaquín added Rainforest Jogging with National Geographic, INBC and the project in Hamburg Port. With all of these points, the Technical Project Leader at SAP wanted to convey the culture of a company that embraces a constant process of innovation and development of new solutions for organizations.
