Jesús Miguel Alonso, Iván Merillas and Adriana Guzmán, alumni of the Executive MBA, took part in a report with Carmen Rojas, a graduate of the Master in Human Resources Management at EAE Business School. These four former students of the Business School are the focus of the section 'One of our own' in EAE's Talent Alumni Review, in which they discuss different aspects of their studies at the Business School and how their professional careers have evolved.
Jesús Miguel Alonso, the Director of the R&D Department of the Spanish construction company ACR, is passionate about research and innovation. In the article, he explains how the projects he oversees in the organization improve building techniques. "We have just created a new façade system that enables a new more efficient air conditioning system to be integrated". Jesús Miguel emphasizes that he enjoys his work but that he keeps two feet firmly on the ground because a successful R&D project does not end up with a technological development, but rather the overall objective is to be able to implement the results.
Adriana Guzmán, the Head of Corporate Sales at StubHub, an eBay platform specializing in online ticket sales, gives us an overview of his job and the importance of the customer in the company's business approach. "Our objective is to help our customers to have the experiences they have f, no matter how unachievable or impossible they may seem". He also highlights how much eBay values its employees' talent and invests a great deal in the latest always dreamed otechnologies.
Iván Merillas has just launched his own venture, IMath Sherpa, a consultancy that helps companies interested in incorporating environmental, social and good governance criteria into their financial management. Iván previously worked as the Investment Analysis Director at the bank BMN and he is well aware of the complexity and uncertainty of the financial world. His business venture is a real challenge for him. "I like my work to be different every day. Change helps me satisfy my hunger for learning and constantly overcome new challenges "
Carmen Rojas, the Human Resources Leadership Program at GE Renewable Energy, took the Master in Human Resources Management and she gives us an insight into her professional evolution in the Human Resources Department of the energy company. From Germany to France, Carmen discusses the international experience she has gained in her job and the capacity for personal growth. "The thing I love about my job is that I take on different challenges, roles, people, cultures, etc. Everything is new every eight months".
Learning at EAE Business School
With respect to the Executive MBA, Jesús Miguel Alonso states that it gives you a new perspective of the business world. "Before the Master, I had built my career from a very technical point of view but, if you want to broaden your horizons, you need a much more cross-disciplinary vision ". Adriana Guzmán also highlighted the much broader vision she gained of the world of business, emphasizing "the opportunity to share methodologies and perspectives with professionals from different fields and disciplines". The third former student of the MBA, Iván Merillas, focuses on learning about executive skills and business strategy.
Carmen Rojas emphasizes how the Master in Human Resources Management has changed her life. "It enabled me to prepare for my next professional challenge and meet some exceptional people", she explained. In addition, other aspects of her program that Carmen discusses include enhancing creativity, stressing the importance of "being creative and believing in our capacities above all else to succeed in the professional world". Lastly, the former student of the Master in HR highlights some of the things she learned at EAE, such as "asking for help, connecting with people and creating a bond of trust with your stakeholders, to put the human in Human Resources".
