We would like to introduce you today to Andrea Prado, a Former Student at EAE Business School and graduate of the "Master in Marketing and Commercial Management"://en.eae.es/full-time/marketing-sales/master-en-direccion-de-marketing-y-gestion-comercial. Andrea gives us an overview of her experience in the Digital Marketing Department at MARCA, the well-known sports newspaper published by Unidad Editorial.
WHAT DUTIES HAVE YOU BEEN ASSIGNED SO FAR?
My main duties are:
– Planning and sending mailshots for all of the websites that Marca operates, including Marcaentradas, Tienda de la selección, Marca experiencias, which offers a range of leisure and travel activity packs, and Ivitalia, a website designed to help our readers keep in shape and adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Once we have planned the content, we contact the agency so that they can design it in line with our objectives.
– Tracking campaigns in terms of a set of KPIs that measure how well we are achieving the targets we have set.
– Overseeing self-publicity, based on advertising carried out in the rest of the brands belonging to Unidad Editorial.
– Carrying out e-commerce campaigns, such as banners, mailshots, short advertisements, etc.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DAY AT THE COMPANY LIKE?
I started on a Friday. It was my last day of classes at EAE. I was really motivated and my boss introduced me to the rest of the Digital Marketing and E-Commerce team, which is made up of me and three other women, one of whom was a former classmate at EAE. They explained all of the areas in which I would be providing support and I got straight down to work!
From then onwards, the Director of the Digital Marketing Department has shown me the tasks I have to perform every day, constantly enabling me to take on new duties and improve how I work.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS MOST IMPORTANT IN YOUR DEPARTMENT, TEAMWORK OR INDIVIDUAL EFFORTS?
Both. Each of us has got our daily tasks, but we have to communicate as a team to keep up to date with any new needs or developments that arise. At the end of each day, the whole team gives an update of the objectives achieved and we get feedback from our manager.

WHAT TYPE OF INTERNAL COMMUNICATION DOES THE COMPANY USE?
Communication is normally based on announcements on notice boards and display cabinets placed around the office, where various events held throughout the year are publicized. Around Christmas time, they announced a charity market organized by Marca, with all profits made donated to an NGO.
However, last week, they launched the company’s own social network, on which each employee has their own profile to post news, comments, photographs, etc. It also has a chat function that facilitates communication between colleagues. Moreover, groups have been set up for the different departments to discuss more specific tasks. It is like the company’s own Facebook.
WHAT IS THE COMPANY’S DINING ROOM LIKE?
There is a dining room with a cafeteria and each floor has an area with vending machines where you can grab something to eat or drink whenever you want. In addition, they have recently opened a new dining room that is really big and has a buffet section and a set menu. You can choose from a number of starters, main courses and desserts. What’s more, employees can eat there free of charge all year long!
AS PART OF UNIDAD EDITORIAL, DO YOU HAVE CONTACT WITH OTHER BUSINESS UNITS?
Each brand is assigned its own area depending on its size. For instance, MARCA takes up an entire floor, while Expansión and Telva share a floor. However, in terms of contact between us, it depends a great deal on each department’s work. My department specifically has regular relations with the Promotions Department, as we have to work together on various tasks to ensure that they turn out as we want.
WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE OFFICE?
It would probably be my work station, where I spend most of my time.
TO FINISH OFF, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO GET OUT OF THIS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE?
In my opinion, the international experience has helped me to grow personally and professionally. What better company to do so than MARCA? So far, it has been an experience that has enabled me to learn and apply the knowledge that I acquired before and during the Master. I am sure that I am going to keep learning more and more and will make the most of everything I learn. And just as an aside, you never know who you’re going to come across at MARCA. I have already met a number of Spanish celebrities!
