The Welcome Week for the new students at EAE Business School coincided with the inauguration of the School's third Campus in Madrid. Spread over four floors, EAE's new building will run the classes of various programs, including the Master in Marketing and Commercial Management, Master in Corporate Communication Management, Master in Project Management, MIB and Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation , among others.
As such, Welcome Week got under way on Tuesday 17th October, with a presentation by the Program Directors, Academic Coordination and Professional Careers Department of the School. On Wednesday, the same session was repeated for other students. On Thursday, the new Campus was the venue for a teambuilding session with a big new twist. To bring Welcome Week to a close, on Friday, the students went in a cultural tour of Madrid to get to know the city, which was particularly useful for students coming from abroad.
"Welcome to your home for the next academic year" greeted Paco Isidro, the director of the Master in Financial Management to his new students. These included Emi Escobar from Ecuador, who decided to come to EAE based on recommendations from friends, "as well as the tuition and methodology being particularly good". In his case, he is also embarking on the adventure of living in a new country for the first time, with a different culture and mindset. "Leaving your comfort zone is a way to grow professionally and personally", added Emi, who has only been in Madrid for a week. "The challenge is very cultural. We are going to meet people for all different countries and that will make the Master even more enjoyable".
David Fernández, a student on Master of International Business, has come from Brussels. As he explained, his father is Spanish, "which is where his name and surname come from". He has come, not only to broaden his qualifications, but also to live in Madrid, a city that he loves, as well as to improve his Spanish. "I studied marketing and I wanted to make a change professionally. A friend of mine studied at the School and he recommended it to me", explained David. He plans to make the most out of the Master and the lecturers, as well as enhancing his network of contacts, especially as his goal is to find a job in Spain.
Like David, Caterina Lisyn from Malaga also wants to make a change in her professional career. In her case, she studied criminology and, due to a lack of opportunities in the market, she decided to take the Master in Financial Management in order to "break into the world of companies". After the presentation of her Master, the feature of the School that Caterina vales most highly is its multicultural nature. "The fact that my classmates come from different parts of the world will help me get to know new cultures and make international friendships".
This first week gives students the chance to "make their first contact with the School, the teachers and the coordinators , so that they can get to know each other", explained Magali, the Director of the Master in Corporate Communication Management. With respect to her group, she would highlight the high level of participation that she has seen from the very first day. "They have come with a great degree of enthusiasm and passion to embark on this new adventure, and to enjoy and make the most of the Master". The presentation session also gave students the chance to clear up any doubts. As explained by José Luis Pérez Huertas, the Director of the Master in Human Resources Management. "Welcome Week is a landing pad at the School for them to get to know our academic model and our training project".
